Children and caregivers are warmly invited to visit Forest City Gallery on January 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. for a special event where imagination knows no bounds! Together, we will create a fantasy art space using collage and mixed media, bringing to life the ultimate destination for creating, sharing, and performing art. Each participant's artwork will be combined to form a magnificent fantasy art building, which will be proudly displayed on the Pier Wall from January 29 to March 1.
Â
Get ready for an afternoon filled with art, snacks, music, and delightful company! Best of all, registration is not required—just show up and unleash your creativity!
Â
Exciting News! This event will also kick off a new survey aimed at establishing a parent-artist collective. In collaboration with Michelle Wilson, Forest City Gallery seeks to create a supportive community for artist-parents. This collective will address their unique needs, allowing them to nurture their creative practices while ensuring a safe environment for both parents and children.
Â
The survey is now live and can be completed here: https://forms.gle/o8HteJtWWmjPbAjy6
Â
The feedback gathered from the survey will help us shape the collective to best suit your needs, providing a space where you and your little ones feel supported and inspired.
Â
Funded in part by Balancing Act Canada, this initiative is part of the Level UP! program, which advocates for greater equality, accessibility, and inclusion for artist parents and caregivers in Canada.
Â
We can't wait to see you there to create something wonderful together!

Artist bio:
Michelle Wilson is a queer, neuro-divergent artist and mother currently residing as an uninvited guest in London, Ontario. Her work focuses on artistic collaboration as anti-colonial care work, which means she rejects individualistic conceptions of the artist and instead prioritizes working at the periphery, making space for a diversity of hands to come together through creation. She recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the University of Guelph and teaches at OCADU and Fanshawe College.
